Meet Jacob
Jacob was Isaac’s son. Like Abraham, Jacob’s name was changed too. Jacob’s new name was Israel. Israel had twelve sons and their families became known as the twelve tribes of Israel. God’s covenant with Abraham was passed on to the tribes of Israel, and they became God’s people. The twelve tribes of Israel became a great nation just as God promised Abraham. When Jesus came, He picked twelve men to be His apostles and start His Church. Jesus’ followers grew from the twelve apostles to millions of people all over the world. The Church is the new people of God just like the twelve tribes of Israel were the first people of God.
